About Chiropractic
In order to understand our practice’s perspective regarding the role of Chiropractic in relation to health, wellness and wholeness, let’s define some terms we commonly use:
Health: When an individual has normal function and the ability to adapt to the average stresses of daily life. It exists when an individual is in balance, harmony and in a state of “ease”.
Symptoms: A manifestation of abnormal function. It is the body’s way of alerting us that something is out of balance, harmony or ease. Symptoms usually occur in the later stages of malfunction, not early on. So they tend to be a very poor indicator of one’s health or well being. Many people have serious underlying dis-ease without any symptoms. The lack of symptoms does not mean someone is healthy.
Wellness: The ability to successfully adapt to greater than average stress and actually incorporate the stress in a positive way so that you grow stronger, moving consistently towards wholeness.
Wholeness: Complete integration of body, mind and spirit which allows you to express your purpose and potential in every aspect of your life, being who you genuinely are.
Life energy: That special “something” within each of us that keeps us alive. It’s the force or energy that animates us and coordinates all function. The degree to which we express this “life energy” reflects the degree to which we achieve “wholeness”.
Chiropractic: The healing profession that encompasses a unique science, art and philosophy which concerns itself with maximizing life expression by optimizing the alignment of the spine and the functioning of the nerve system.
Think about this... Is a room dark because there’s “too much” darkness... or because there is “not enough” light? Is someone ill because they have too much disease… or not enough expression of their life energy? Our goal is to maximize your life energy, not decrease your disease.-Dr. Schneider
